Job Description

Responsibilities

We are actively seeking a highly skilled and experienced Cloud Solution Architect to join our dynamic team for an exciting new project based in Melbourne. We require an individual with a deep and proven background in Microsoft technologies encompassing both on-premises solutions and extensive expertise across the Microsoft Azure cloud platform. This critical role demands someone capable of designing and overseeing the implementation of complex scalable and secure cloud solutions that align with our strategic objectives.

The ideal candidate for this position will possess a unique blend of theoretical architectural knowledge and practical hands-on experience. Were specifically looking for an architect who has honed their technical skills as a developer mastering the intricacies of code and system functionality before successfully transitioning into a comprehensive solution architecture role. This practical understanding of implementation is paramount ensuring that proposed designs are not only innovative but also feasible and robust when brought to life.

Qualifications :

Key Requirements:

Architectural Design & Strategy:

  • Lead the design and development of end-to-end cloud solutions ensuring alignment with business requirements architectural principles and best practices (e.g. Well-Architected Framework).
  • Define and articulate cloud architecture patterns blueprints and roadmaps for complex systems.
  • Conduct architectural reviews and provide technical leadership across project lifecycles.
  • Evaluate and recommend new cloud technologies tools and platforms to enhance solution capabilities and efficiency.
  • Ensure solutions are scalable resilient secure cost-optimized and performant.

 

Cloud Platform Expertise:

  • Leverage extensive expertise in Microsoft Azure including IaaS PaaS and related services such as Azure Functions Logic Apps Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) Azure Service Bus and Azure Active Directory.
  • Design and implement secure network architectures within Azure (e.g. VNets ExpressRoute VPN Gateways).
  • Develop and implement cloud security strategies including identity and access management (IAM) data encryption and compliance controls.

Technical Leadership & Development Background:

  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to development teams fostering adherence to architectural standards and best practices.
  • Utilize a strong technical development background (e.g. .NET C# Python) to understand implementation challenges and bridge the gap between design and execution.
  • Contribute to code reviews and provide hands-on support where necessary especially during critical phases or complex integrations.

Data & Analytics Focus:

  • Lead the design and implementation of robust Data Warehousing concepts and solutions on Azure including data ingestion transformation and storage strategies (e.g. Azure Synapse Analytics Azure Data Lake Storage).
  • Demonstrate proficiency with Azure Databricks for complex data engineering pipelines large-scale data processing and advanced analytics workloads.
  • Utilize and recommend appropriate Microsoft Database tools (e.g. SQL Server Azure SQL DB Azure Cosmos DB Azure PostgreSQL/MySQL) based on solution requirements.
  • Design comprehensive Reporting and Analytics solutions using tools like Power BI ensuring data integrity accessibility and actionable insights.

Stakeholder Engagement & Communication:

  • Collaborate effectively with business stakeholders product owners project managers and technical teams to gather requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
  • Present complex technical concepts clearly and concisely to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Act as a technical liaison between various teams and external vendors.

Operational Excellence:

  • Design solutions with operational considerations in mind including monitoring logging alerting and disaster recovery strategies.
  • Promote and implement DevOps practices and automation for continuous integration and delivery (CI/CD) pipelines.
