Position: Veterinary Assistant Help Us Help Paws!
Location: Grass Lake Michigan
Employment Type: Full-Time Occasional Pet Wrangler
Salary: $16-$18/hour
Are you fluent in barks meows and the occasional hiss Do you have a heart bigger than a Great Dane and the reflexes of a caffeinated squirrel Then you might be just the superhero sidekick were looking for at Grass Lake Animal Hospital in the charming village of Grass Lake Michigan.
About the Role:
Were on the hunt for a Veterinary Assistant who doesnt mind a little fur on their scrubs and knows the difference between a pit bull and a porcupine (important). Youll work alongside veterinarians and fellow animal lovers to:
Cuddle stressed-out critters (yes its a job requirement)
Keep exam rooms clean and stockedbecause no one wants to search for the thermometer after the patient arrives
Take vitals and assist during exams and procedures
Assist Technicians and Doctors with surgeries
Administer medications and treatments as directed by the veterinarian
Collect and process laboratory samples such as blood urine and feces
Handle administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments and answering phones
Educate pet parents without using too much Latin
Provide TLC to both four-legged and two-legged clients
Who You Are:
High school diploma or equivalent; additional certification in Animal Care or related field is a plus.
Previous experience in a veterinary or animal care setting is a must.
Physical ability to lift and handle animals of varying sizes
Youre not squeamish (because things will ooze)
You know how to keep your cool during a Chihuahua tantrum
Youre a team player with a strong stomach and a soft heart
Bonus points if you can do all this while holding a cup of coffee
