Bachelors degree in related field
Valid Texas certificate in the field of visually impaired
Ability to work effectively with school and community
Experience in providing instruction to students with visual impairments
Valid drivers license
The mission of this role:
Provide instructional services to meet the needs of eligible students identified as students with a visual impairment.
What success looks like for this role:
In addition to teacher job description:
- Adhere to local state and federal guidelines in the delivery of services to hearing impaired students.
- Assist in appropriate areas of assessment and evaluation.
- Assist in interpretation of data.
- Develop educational programs for eligible visually impaired students.
- Complete required local state and federal forms for visually impaired students.
- Assist in general education and/or special education classes when appropriate.
- Communicate regularly with general education special education and parents/guardians regarding student progress/needs/concerns.
- Assist other school personnel in effectively meeting the needs of visually impaired students.
- Report progress on IEP goals/objectives and grades as stipulated by district policy and ARD documents.
- Prepare appropriate paperwork and attend ARD-IEP meetings for students with visual impairments.
- Assist in maintaining audit folders of visually impaired students.
- Keep current in the field of visual impairments and be willing to attend appropriate workshops and trainings.
- Maintain a record of district travel and complete appropriate forms and documentation within timeline.

Workplace operational environment to include:
Maintain emotional control under stress. Frequent standing stooping bending kneeling pushing and pulling. Move small stacks of textbooks media equipment desks and other classroom or adaptive equipment. May be required to lift and position students with physical disabilities; control behavior through physical restraint; and assist non-ambulatory students. Exposure to biological hazards. Daily driving in the district from one campus to another.
