The Global Advertising and Brand Management (GABM) team is responsible for creating marketplace demand and driving commerce for American Express through differentiated and innovative branding marketing and experiences. We have an ambitious goal: to be the most admired brand in the Fortune 500 and we aim to deliver on that by doing work that is both creative and effective. The Global Brand Strategy & Insights team sits within GABM. We are responsible for accelerating brand consideration globally by delivering robust insights transformative brand strategies and key capabilities for marketers across the organization.
How will you make an impact in this role
Our team is looking for an experienced Director International Card Services (ICS) Insights. In this role the colleague will lead a team of research and insights professionals delivering strategic recommendations to support key business decisions across the ICS organization. The person will be asked to make connections across ICS acquisition customer marketing and products teams to drive growth while partnering with the markets and US Insights teams to align strategies insights and share learnings. The primary responsabilities will be:
- Partner with American Expresss International Card Services (ICS) stakeholders to deliver against key strategic priorities using the Voice of the Customer (VOC) to shape strategic brand product and marketing strategies across B2C and B2B.
- Manage a high performing insights team known for strategic thought leadership and the ability to align and inspire others around shared goals and outcomes (increased brand consideration acquisition revenue share of wallet etc.).
- Design a research and insights roadmap that leverages both primary and secondary sources while incorporating the external perspective.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Significant number of years in consumer/B2B insights / market research/ consulting including qualitative and quantitative market research leveraging advanced analytics (including conjoint segmentation TURF etc.).
- Mix of research or ad agencyand/orclient-side experience a plus.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills with exceptional ability to inspire action and compelling recommendations.
- Strengths in analytics and storytelling to turn research results into insights that influence business decisions.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and stakeholders simultaneously to embed insights into marketing and product decision making.
- Marketing market research or business related post-graduate degree a plus.
- Deep knowledge of the international markets and financial services landscape a plus.
- Experience managing a marketing or research budget a plus.
- Strong computer skills (PowerPoint Excel Word).
- Research Expertise:
- Proven track record in leveraging insights to influence and develop strategy to drive business outcomes
- Takes a consultative approach; helps to articulate and prioritize information needs and translate into researchable objectives
- Has strong analytical skills with ability to design research programs and methods to address business needs; can articulate rationale (the why behind a given recommendation)
- Strong ability to synthesize data across multiple sources into clear visual and compelling narratives using data storytelling and visualization to deliver actionable insights and influence stakeholders
- Leadership:
- Proactive assertive leader comfortable working in a highly collaborative cross-functional environment.
- Ability to work with ambiguity and make connections of key strategic priorities.
- Able to manage goals and develop the careers of team members on an ongoing basis.
- Able to prioritize project requests to fit the strategic research needs of the ICS organization while considering those that have the greatest impact on the enterprise.

- Can effectively build strong relationships driving cross -team integration and influence stakeholders at all levels (i.e. BU Dir VP SVP) to deliver faster and more effective outcomes.
