Job Path is seeking a part-time Teaching Artist responsible for helping people supported by Job Path to grow as artists. The Teaching Artist will run a weekly art studio where individuals can create art in its many forms and traditions which may include drawing painting sculpting and designing. The Teaching Artist will also identify opportunities for individuals to become part of the mainstream artistic community establishing relationships with art venues and community arts organizations and arranging exhibitions and shows. The ideal candidate will adapt various art projects to meet the ability level and interest of the individuals and will work with individuals at all levels of abilities to encourage and assist them to express themselves through art.
Responsibilities include (but are not limited to) the following tasks:- Through a 2x weekly art studio create a supportive art setting where the individuals can learn about art traditions and learn to express them through art; demonstrate various methods and design projects that allow individuals to explore methods and media
- Schedule and send reminders about the weekly group
- Facilitate the weekly art group at Job Paths office (and occasionally via Zoom or another virtual platform at the discretion of the supervisor)
- Support and cultivate talent and help individuals grow as artists
- Create individual/group portfolios spotlighting peoples work
- Conduct other tasks as needed or required
- Ensure that there are adequate art materials and supplies available and maintain an inventory of supplies
- Arrange for people to participate in community based art activities and organizations; arrange for shows and exhibitions.
- Complete and submit case notes immediately following the class and monthly summary notes for participants in the case
Location:Job Paths office in Midtown Manhattan seeking alternative community based locations
Qualifications:- One year of art teaching experience
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities preferred.
- Proven capacity to be proactive in organizing projects
- Ability to work in collaborative settings.

Salary: $27.10/hour regular schedule of up to five hours per week. Additional hours will be permitted for special projects with approval from the supervisor.
