This position will supervise and provide technical assistance for Construction Science Technologies (CST) programs and/or other programs as assigned at the secondary level to implement all aspects of the Elements of an Approved Program.
Occasional in-state and rare out-of-state travel is required for this position.
The Arizona Department of Education currently utilizes a hybrid work environment with up to two days of remote work (contingent upon business needs). Candidates should apply with an ability and willingness to work in-office up to five days per week as business needs necessitate.
Carry out across the board assignments for the Az Department of Education and/or the Career and Technical Education Unit including managing assigned programs
Conduct program planning and development with business industry and the local education agencies in all assigned programs
Visit Local Education Agencies (LEAs)/ Career and Technical Education Districts (CTEDs) and provide educators with technical assistance in the area of program development and improvement including teaching methods standards-based curriculum development and utilization program planning facility management equipment selection and certification
Provide technical assistance and professional development regarding technical skills assessment and program improvement based on data
Monitor assess and evaluate assigned Career and Technical Education programs based on Perkins V and CTED legislation
Gather and analyze data for statistical CTE reports in programs
Plan statistical descriptive and other reports in regard to assigned programs
Organize facilitate and coordinate statewide advisory council meetings for assigned programs
Assist and collaborate with Career and Technical Student Organization (CTSO) team members for assigned programs for state regional local level leadership and technical skill activities as an integral part of assigned programs
Plan implement and supervise in-service workshop(s) and professional development based on data from the State Technical Skills Assessment (TSA) and/or other needed program related focus to improve instruction and student outcomes participate in conference workshops seminars and tours and make in-depth visits to business and industry in order to update professional competence and provide program improvement
Consult with industry experts utilizing internal processes to maintain review and revise documents related to assigned programs on an annual basis for website publishing
Plan for and assist LEAs in developing new CTE programs
Review evaluate recommend and assist in the development of state standards Frameworks and Blueprints for assigned programs
Cooperate and collaborate with ADE/CTE Standards and Assessment team Arizona Curriculum Consortium and other entities as requested for development and/or revisions
Participating in ADE HASS CTE CTSO or other meetings as assigned or required by programmatic assignment
Upon supervisory direction/approval serve as a consultant on task forces committees and special projects for ADE as a whole
Provide technical assistance via telephone e-mail etc.
Answer correspondence and respond to informal office visits
Travel as related to occupational responsibilities (travel time is inherent in most activities listed above)
Knowledge in:
Coordinating and convening Industry advisory councils
Developing curriculum based on state Program Standards and State Technical Assessment data
CTE Instructional materials and their availability and applicability to curriculum as appropriate to the program
Perkins V federal legislation
CTED state legislation
CTE Classroom management teaching techniques
Principles and practices of public-school organization and administration for CTE and CTSOs
State and Federal Regulations on CTE and assigned programs
State Board Policies on CTE and General Ed
Supervisory techniques evaluation procedures for programs supervised
Teacher certification requirements for area of specialization
Applicants must have taught in an approved secondary CTE program area and/or was an advisor for a CTSO related to the position.
