This posting is for a Transportation Worker III performing work primarily associated with the sign crew for the NCDOT Wilson County Traffic Services Unit.

Position will be responsible to evaluate sign condition and night-time retro reflectivity; will be scheduled to work extended hours during the work week. This position Is subject to emergency call back scheduled night work snow and Ice removal operations and overtime as needed. Position performs manual labor tasks for extended periods of time in extreme temperatures and uneven terrain. Work includes operating assigned equipment effectively. Position will keep detailed daily records of work accomplished. Ability to lift 50 lbs. Steel toed safety shoes required. The selected candidate must be able to legally operate Class A CDL required equipment/trucks with both manual and automatic transmissions at the time of hire or within 360 days of hire date.

High school or General Educational Development diploma and five years of experience operating equipment directly related to the area of specialization; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Necessary Special Requirements Either possession of a current Commercial Driver s License on the date of hire OR the North Carolina Commercial Driver s License must be obtained through completion of on-the-Job training and all requirements mandated by Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (Federal Registry 49 CFR 383) within 360 days of the date of hire.
