Are you looking for a role which gives you the chance to make a real positive difference to the experience of students

To further the continued success of the School of Education we are recruiting an Operations Officer to contribute to the delivery of two key areas of our activities;

  • The Centre for English Language Education (CELE) which provides a wide variety of academic training and support to international students
  • Our Initial Teacher Education team which offers teacher training opportunities for aspiring primary and secondary teachers.

Start Date:23 June 2025
End Date: 26 September 2025
Working Hours:36.25 hours per week
Pay Rate: 13.12 per hour plus holiday pay
Location: Dearing Building Jubilee Campus
Dress Code: Smart casual

You will be involved in wide variety of work including but not limited to:

  • Supporting registration and induction for Pre-sessional English courses.
  • Responding to email enquiries.
  • Preparing spreadsheets and reports.
  • Monitoring and managing student attendance.
  • Servicing meetings and fora.
  • Supporting events.
  • Supporting the processing of payments and other tasks using the Universitys HR and Finance system.


Skills and experience required for the role:

  • You will need excellent interpersonal skills including empathy compassion and patience; as well as strong communication skills including the ability to adapt your style to accommodate people for whom English is not their first language.
  • You will have experience of working with students and responding independently and dealing with unforeseen circumstances.
  • You will work well in a team be highly organised and flexible and be able to thrive in a very fast-paced and at times highly pressured environment.
  • You will have good IT communication and time-management skills. You will be able to prioritise and manage your own workload.
  • Opportunities for annual leave may be limited. Flexibility around working hours would be an advantage to enable support of our online students living in different time zones.
