The 8th Grade Seminar Teacher will design and deliver a dynamic interdisciplinary course that equips students with essential academic personal and career-readiness skills. The course focuses on developing study and organizational habits introducing college and career pathways building research and presentation skills and exploring STEM and Project-Based Learning (PBL). This position plays a key role in preparing students for high school success and beyond.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and implement a curriculum that blends academic skill-building research projects STEM/PBL activities and college/career exploration.
• Teach students effective strategies for time management organization note-taking test preparation and digital literacy.
• Guide students in exploring high school pathways postsecondary options and career interests using tools like Xello guest speakers and field-based exploration through the EHS and MISD CTE program.
• Integrate hands-on research and inquiry-based projects to build critical thinking and collaboration skills.
• Introduce students to foundational STEM concepts or Project-Based Learning (PBL) through the use of interactive platforms
• Collaborate with the 8th grade team to monitor student progress and provide interventions as needed.

Minimum Job Qualifications:

• Bachelors Degree in Education
• State of Michigan Teaching Certification
• Strong organizational Skills
• Successful Classroom teaching experience and Project Based Learning experience

Salary Data: Per EFE Contract. Tentative agreement on a new salary schedule has been agreed to with the teacher association for 2025-26. 15 step schedule. Bachelors lane: $49350 - $80483. Masters lane: $53500 - $85200 plus $3000 additional on each step for MA30 or beyond.
