Job Description

St. Peters School in Waldorf Maryland is hiring a STEM teacher for the 2025-26 school year.
This position can be full time or part time and will report to the Principal.
The salary for the role is $40000

St. Peters is a Blue Ribbon School located on a multi-acre campus in Southern Maryland.

We are home to multiple Golden Apple teachers and former alumni who return as teachers. St. Peters is an innovative leader in bringing STEM education to ALL students. We were awarded the Distinguished status from Project Lead the Way in both our elementary and middle school STEM programs for the 2024-2025 school year. In the state of Maryland we are one of only three schools given this award for elementary school and one of nine given the title for middle school. 50% of our teachers hold advanced degrees. Personal and professional development is strongly encouraged and supported.

As part of our commitment to innovation in education our STEM curriculum is based on Project Lead The Way (PLTW) a nationally recognized hands-on program that empowers students to develop real-world problem-solving skills through science technology engineering and math.

Position Summary:

We are seeking an enthusiastic and qualifiedSTEM Teacherto lead our PLTW program for students inPre-K through 8th Grade. The ideal candidate will inspire young learners with engaging inquiry-based lessons and be committed to ongoing professional development throughPLTW teacher training which will be provided.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver dynamic STEM instruction using the Project Lead The Way curriculum for multiple grade levels
  • Participate in and complete required PLTW core training and module-specific professional development
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers and staff to support interdisciplinary learning experiences
  • Organize and facilitate STEM-related events (e.g. showcases clubs competitions STEM nights)
  • Foster a safe inclusive and faith-driven classroom culture
  • Encourage student creativity resilience and teamwork
  • Communicate regularly with parents/guardians and school leadership
  • Support the schools Catholic mission participate in liturgical life and model Gospel values

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Education Science Technology Engineering or related field (preferred)
  • Experience working with children in Pre-K through middle school
  • Willingness and ability to complete required PLTW training
  • Strong classroom management and communication skills
  • Familiarity with educational technology coding platforms and maker tools is a plus
