Job Description

About the Role:

The PMO Specialist will be a key member of the Portfolio Program & Project Management team focused on delivering organizational projects and programs. This role involves developing and implementing program/project management best practices and templates monitoring dependencies across multiple inter-related projects and gathering and reporting consolidated project status and financial information to leadership. The PMO Specialist may also serve as a central governing body to review and audit adherence to methodologies budgets and timing and may provide full staffing and management for the organizations major projects/programs.

Key Responsibilities:

Project Management:

  • Develop and maintain project management best practices and templates.
  • Monitor and manage project dependencies and interdependencies.
  • Gather analyze and report consolidated project status and financial information to leadership.
  • Ensure adherence to project management methodologies budgets and timelines.

Governance and Compliance:

  • Serve as a central governing body to review and audit project adherence to methodologies budgets and timing.
  • Ensure compliance with organizational policies and procedures.

Staffing and Management:

  • Provide full staffing and management reports for major projects/programs.
  • Coach and mentor less experienced staff providing informal supervisory responsibilities.
  • Oversee the work of lower-level professionals and manage processes and programs.

Strategic Influence:

  • Set objectives and deliver on work responsibilities.
  • Act as a leading expert within the project management field.
  • Adapt departmental plans and priorities to address resource and operational challenges.

Professional Development:

  • Build and maintain in-depth knowledge and experience in a functional area.
  • Routinely apply subject matter knowledge to solve common business issues.
  • Handle most situations independently with minimal guidance seeking advice on more complex or non-routine topics.

Collaboration and Communication:

  • Understand the overall nature of the business and the interdependencies between own and other functions.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelors degree in business administration Project Management or a related field.
  • Proven experience in project management with a strong understanding of project management methodologies (e.g. PMP PRINCE2 Agile).
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in project management software (e.g. Microsoft Project JIRA Trello).
  • Experience in coaching and mentoring less experienced staff.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Masters degree in business administration Project Management or a related field.
  • Certification in project management (e.g. PMP PRINCE2 Agile).
  • Experience in a similar role within the same industry.
  • Available in (or relocation to) Bangalore or Pune
