The incumbent will be required to travel throughout Riverside County. Additionally the incumbent may be required to work nights weekends holidays and be available to work overtime as needed.
The Senior Crime and Intelligence Analyst is the advanced journey level classification in the Crime and Intelligence Analyst series and reports to an appropriate supervisory or manager level position. Incumbents are assigned to the Sheriffs Department and the Office of the District Attorney and are responsible for acting as a lead worker and coordinator over Crime and Intelligence Analysts in the Crime Analysis Unit performing complex analytical work to evaluate series trends and patterns of criminal activity.
The Senior Crime and Intelligence Analyst is distinguished from the Crime and Intelligence Analyst Supervisor in that the latter has full supervisory responsibility for the Crime Analysis program.

OPTION I
Education: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelors degree or foreign studies equivalency in crime analysis intelligence analysis criminal justice administration of justice statistics public administration or other closely related field.
Experience: Two years of professional experience performing crime and intelligence analysis statistical or analytical research or geographic information system (GIS) analysis which must include a minimum of one year of journey-level experience equivalent to a Crime and Intelligence Analyst II with the County of Riverside or similar position performing criminal intelligence analysis work in a recognized law enforcement agency. Experience in more than one function of the job preferably in both Station and Special Teams is highly desired.
OPTION II
Education: Graduation from an accredited college or university with an associates degree or foreign studies equivalency in crime analysis intelligence analysis criminal justice administration of justice statistics public administration or other closely related field.
Experience:Four years of professional experience performing crime and intelligence analysis statistical or analytical research or geographic information system (GIS) analysis which must include a minimum of one year of journey-level experience equivalent to a Crime and Intelligence Analyst II with the County of Riverside or similar position performing criminal intelligence analysis work in a recognized law enforcement agency. Experience in more than one function of the job preferably in both Station and Special Teams is highly desired.
ALL OPTIONS
Knowledge of:Law enforcement research design and statistical methodology; research methods for measuring effectiveness and direction of specific departmental crime programs; criminal investigative and data analysis; crime analysis software applications; elements and restrictions of criminal intelligence; automation tools and methods for generating organizing and displaying a wide variety of complex statistical and other research data.
Ability to:Lead and coordinate research activities in the Crime Analysis Unit; communicate effectively both orally and in writing with personnel in the Sheriffs Department in other law enforcement agencies and in community organizations.
Other Requirements
License/Certificate: Possession of a valid California Drivers License is required.
Possession of a Certified Crime and Intelligence Analyst (CCIA) Certificate issued by an accredited college or university.

Pre-Employment
