Job Description:

General Summary:

Lead major telecom design efforts and supervise project engineers and designers. Provide the technical organizational and communication skills to produce well-designed and coordinated construction documents for telecom systems.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Delegate tasks to less experienced engineers and efficiently direct their efforts.
  • Establish project scope telecom budget and design approach with management senior staff and/or client.
  • Present design work to clients project stakeholders and peer review groups.
  • Create engineering documents using computer aided design (CAD) technology utilizing both AutoCAD and Revit software (2D and 3D applications).
  • Work closely with architects and engineers during design phase of project to understand scope of project information to determine design basis data and CAD/ Revit needs and guidelines for the project.
  • Device layouts for voice and data systems public address systems wireless LAN systems fire alarm systems CCTV and Access Control systems. Preparation of necessary schedules and riser diagrams.
  • Leadership level participation in:
    • Establish project scope telecom budget and necessary constraints and design approach relative to project manager / client requirements.
    • Coordinating telecom trade efforts with other disciplines.
    • Prepare feasibility studies and cost estimates.
    • Knowledge of all aspects of BICSI guidelines and NFPA -72 as they apply to the design.
    • Ability to produce detailed building HVAC controls documents including but not limited to drawings PI&Ds and specifications
    • Ability to produce detailed environment monitoring systems including but not limited to gas detection leak detection and hazardous dust alarms.
    • Produce coordinated low voltage sets of documents that can be constructed based on converged/integrated network
    • Conduct field measuring and checking at the construction site.
    • Conduct code reviews.
    • Review of documents for accuracy completeness and code compliance with standards and codes.
  • Performs related duties as assigned

Employment Qualifications:

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering; Masters in Electrical Engineering preferred.
  • RCDD Registration required.
  • 10 years related Controls/Telecom Engineering experience.

Skills/Competencies:

Proficiency in Revit AutoCAD ACC/BIM 360 Navisworks
