Core Responsibilities:
This role is essential to maintaining program integrity audit compliance and quality assurance within the Medicaid eligibility process. As a Family Independence Unit Supervisor you will supervise and evaluate staff responsible for program integrity deductible processing and general eligibility determinations ensuring efficient workload management while maintaining compliance with Medicaid policies. Your work safeguards program resources through effective audit response and regulatory adherence.
Additionally you will serve as a liaison between the Office for Family Independence (OFI) and Medical Review Team (MRT) contractors fostering seamless coordination to optimize eligibility processing.
Success in this role requires expertise in eligibility regulations and audit procedures to support long-term operational effectiveness.
Key Responsibilities
Model exemplary work ethic and behavior adhering to DHHS Working Norms and Customer Service Standards.
Provide employees with clear written and measurable performance expectations upon hire and during annual evaluations.
Offer ongoing guidance assessments and feedback to staff including:
o Monthly case readings for every team member.
o Monthly one-on-one meetings (via TEAMS or in person) to review case readings provide feedback and recognize achievements.
o Development of annual performance plans that are goal-oriented measurable and include timeframes.
Organize and lead routine unit meetings to communicate policy/procedural updates.
Attend and actively participate in required meetings and trainings.
Oversee daily operations of both Deductible and MaineCare Program Integrity teams.
o Utilize Siebel queries team email boxes reports workbooks and monitoring tools to ensure timely task completion.
Manage supervisory reports and email requests promptly including MRT DOC Presumptive Eligibility SAVE Deductible and AVS reports.
Assist the Deductible team Central Office staff State agencies and stakeholders with Deductible policies and processes professionally and efficiently.
Act as the primary liaison between OFI and MRT contractors ensuring effective communication issue resolution and adherence to program policies.
Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of relevant laws policies and procedures related to program eligibility.
Strong supervisory and leadership skills.
Ability to assess workloads monitor performance and implement corrective measures.
Experience in training and development of new staff members.
Proficiency in applicable computer programs.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to foster collaboration with MRT contractors ensuring streamlined processes and effective case handling.
Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a Bachelors Degree in Public or Business Administration Social Work one of the social sciences or related field and two (2) years experience in a business or social services environment providing direct assistance to groups or individuals or deciding client eligibility for financial assistance. Equivalent experience may be substituted for education on a year-for-year basis.
