Job Description

Job Summary:

Under the direction of the School Principal or appropriate Central Office supervisor a Secretary I provides services of a general special technical sensitive and/or confidential nature.

Minimum Requirements of the Position:

  1. High school diploma or GED
  2. A minimum of three (3) years of successful experience or training as a secretary
  3. Demonstrated proficiency in the use of personal computers and software-related job responsibilities.
  4. A professional manner
  5. Good interpersonal communication skills.A willingness and capability to work beyond the normal workday.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities of Position:

  1. Performs a wide variety of secretarial/administrative duties as required by daily operations.
  2. Maintains strict confidentiality.
  3. Using independent judgment screens prioritizes channels and facilitates communications from internal/external constituencies including telephone calls mail and e-mail.
  4. Prioritizes tasks and information flow while functioning well within a fast-paced and deadline-driven environment.
  5. Manages electronic/paper filing systems and maintains/updates complex filing/contact lists.
  6. Provides copies of all necessary information to be shared at an IEP meeting.
  7. Supports special education teachers by completing specific forms making parent/guardian and outside agency contacts and taking meeting notes during IEP meetings.
  8. Maintains regular on-time attendance.
  9. Reacts to change productively and performs other duties as assigned.

Salary:This is a 10-month position with a maximum of up to 36.25 hours per week. Caroline County Board of Education Support Services Personnel Salary Schedule. Placement on the appropriate salary lane/step will be based on knowledge experience skills and training related to this position.
