JOB OPPORTUNITY

The City of Berkeley invites you to apply for the position of Library Literacy Instructor! In this role you will provide direct services to our Literacy Team including the Literacy Coordinator Program Assistant Program Aide Learner-on-Staff hourly library literacy instructors and a tutor trainer.

Berkeley READS is the Adult and Family Literacy program of the Berkeley Public Library. Literacy staff and volunteer tutors provide free support services for eligible adults who aim to improve their reading writing digital and communication skills based on each unique life skills and Learner-Driven agenda.

Services include: One-on-one and small group tutoring Learner Wait List tutoring drop-in sessions Computer Lab Family Class ESL Conversation Club and Citizenship Information.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

A typical way of gaining the knowledge skills and abilities for this position is the ability to prioritize excellent interpersonal communication style a go with the flow and winging it is OK attitude and the ability to facilitate a culture of joy and inclusivity.

EXAM PROCESS

Tests may consist of any combination of written oral or other exercises or assessment procedures that test content and may include but are not necessarily limited to typing math reading writing and analytical skills; problem-solving ability; computer and software proficiency or any other job-related knowledge skill ability or qualification. The examination process and dates are subject to change. The City may without notice change or eliminate any assessment component as needs dictate. Applicants passing all examination phases will have their names placed on an employment-eligible list that hiring departments will use to conduct final selection interviews slated for a date that is yet to be determined.

PRE-EMPLOYMENT PROCESS
