Job Description

Position Description L3 Learning LabSecretary

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt (Hourly)

Job Class: Full Time/School Year

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Elementary School STEM Teachers Aide supports the STEM (Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics) instructional program by assisting the lead teacher in delivering engaging hands-on STEM lessons and activities. This role involves working directly with students from grades K5 helping to manage classroom dynamics preparing materials and providing academic support under the guidance of the STEM teacher.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Thefollowing responsibilities are essential functions plus any other duties that may be required by the employer. Specific duties and responsibilities will be assigned by the Principal or supervisor.

  • Assist the lead STEM teacher in implementing age-appropriate STEM lessons and projects.
  • Support students individually and in small groups during instruction and hands-on activities.
  • Prepare organize and maintain instructional materials equipment and supplies.
  • Set up and clean up classroom labs or technology stations.
  • Monitor student behavior and engagement promoting a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Assist with classroom management and enforce school rules and policies.
  • Help integrate basic technology tools (e.g. tablets robotics kits coding programs) into lessons.
  • Supervise students during transitions recess lunch and field trips as needed.
  • Provide clerical support including photocopying organizing files and tracking student progress under teacher direction.
  • Attend training sessions or school meetings as required.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree or coursework in education or STEM preferred.
  • Prior experience working with children especially in a school or educational setting.
  • Interest in science technology engineering and mathematics subjects.
  • Comfortable using or learning educational technology (e.g. tablets Chromebooks basic coding platforms like Scratch).
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience enthusiasm and a proactive attitude.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work collaboratively with teachers and staff.

Working Conditions:

  • Work is primarily in a classroom or lab setting.

  • May involve occasional lifting of materials and equipment (up to 25 lbs).

  • Requires standing walking and interacting with children for extended periods.
