Position Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Distribution Engineer to design plan and manage electrical distribution systems that power homes businesses and critical infrastructure. This role is vital in ensuring the safe efficient and reliable delivery of electric power while complying with regulatory standards and advancing system resilience.
Key Responsibilities:Distribution System Design:
Design and optimize overhead and underground distribution systems substations transformers and related equipment.
Ensure compliance with utility standards codes and safety regulations.
Network Analysis:
Conduct load flow fault and voltage drop analysis to assess and improve system performance.
Asset Management:
Maintain records of distribution assets perform condition assessments and recommend repairs or replacements.
Equipment Selection:
Specify appropriate electrical components such as transformers breakers and protective devices based on voltage and load requirements.
Safety & Regulatory Compliance:
Ensure all designs adhere to safety standards and environmental regulations. Coordinate with regulatory agencies for compliance approvals.
System Reliability & Improvements:
Identify and implement strategies to enhance system reliability reduce outages and improve power quality.
New Service Connections:
Assess requests for new service connections evaluate system impacts and design infrastructure to support customer demands.
Project Management:
Manage infrastructure projects from concept to execution coordinating with construction teams contractors and vendors to meet deadlines and budgets.
Emergency Response:
Respond to outages or equipment failures by conducting rapid assessments and providing timely engineering solutions.
Data Analysis:
Use data from smart grid systems sensors and monitoring tools to drive operational decisions and performance enhancements.
Education:
Bachelor s degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline. Master s degree a plus.
Licensure:
PE License preferred or ability to obtain within a reasonable timeframe.
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in power system simulation tools AutoCAD and GIS software.
Familiarity with SCADA and smart grid technologies is advantageous.
Analytical Abilities:
Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex data and develop effective solutions.
Communication:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to interact with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Project Management:
Experience managing engineering projects and collaborating across multidisciplinary teams.
Safety-Driven:
Demonstrated commitment to workplace and system safety protocols.
