Job Description

We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Birmingham to assist with the appointment of a Missing Support Worker on a 2-month contract likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.

Rate of Pay: 14.79 - 19.25 per hour

Summary:

The Missing Support Worker undertakes timely return home interviews (RHI) with children and young people to support their protection from further missing episodes abuse and exploitation. The role involves building relationships with young people and providing them with information advice and advocacy. The goal is to ensure the childs voice is heard in decision-making processes and to use the information gathered to reduce or prevent future missing episodes.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct timely Return Home Interviews (RHIs) with children and young people who have returned from being missing.
  • Provide RHIs to all children in Birmingham who have gone missing from home or care which may require travel outside the city. The service also covers RHIs for children placed by other local authorities within Birmingham.
  • Explore the reasons a child went missing the associated risks and discuss alternatives to running away in the future.
  • Complete RHI reports for allocated workers to identify concerns reduce future missing episodes and refer children with safeguarding issues to CASS (Childrens Advice & Support Service).
  • Work with the Exploitation Hub and other professionals to discuss missing still-missing and returned children.
  • Comply with the Councils Health and Safety and Information Quality policies.
