Lead Systems Engineer - PRE

In the role of Lead System Engineer Observability you will be responsible for leading technical direction and implementation of Visas the monitoring and observability platform. This platform is essential to Visas business providing the tooling practices and visibility that our development and engineering teams leverage to deliver observe and maintain Visas product suite.

You will be responsible for ensuring low friction highly secure highly available cost-effective and consistent toolchain to deliver effective tools to monitor observe and operate that software in the framework of large enterprise compliance and governance needs.

You will work closely with the operation and infrastructure leadership software development leadership architecture PMO and vendors from around the globe to deliver these services.

This is a hybrid position. Expectation of days in office will be confirmed by your hiring manager.

Qualifications :

Basic Qualifications

• 10 years of relevant work experience with a Bachelors Degree or at least 7 years of work experience with an Advanced degree (e.g. Masters MBA JD MD) or 4 years of work experience with a PhD OR 13 years of relevant work experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• 12 or more years of work experience with a Bachelors Degree or 8-10 years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters MBA JD MD) or 6 years of work experience with a PhD
• Background in both Systems and Software Engineering
• Knowledge in AWSTerraform GCP and Azure architecture service and security (desired)
• Competent developing software in 1 or more of Python Golang Ruby C (implement defensive programming error handling testing frameworks)
• Experience in designing automating maintaining and optimizing observability platforms (logging metric and tracing)
• Expertise and experience in delivering large-scale systems using big data technologies including but not limited to: Enterprise scale Kafka Splunk Prometheus and other Time Series databases
• Abreast of industry standards and trends related to telemetry and software pipelines
• Experience rationalizing and implementing monitoring and observability toolchain at enterprise scale
• Knowledge and experience of containers and Kubernetes cluster
• Hands on experience consolidating application and system logs at enterprise scale
• Experience with automation tools (Chef Ansible)
• Experience working in a remote team across multiple regions and time zones
• Autonomous and proactive.

Work Hours: Varies upon the needs of the department.

Travel Requirements: This position requires travel 5-10% of the time.

Mental/Physical Requirements: This position will be performed in an office setting.  The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk communicate in person and by telephone frequently operate standard office equipment such as telephones and computers.

U.S. APPLICANTS ONLY: The estimated salary range for a new hire into this position is 160600.00 to 232900.00 USD per year which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable). Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge skills experience and location. In addition this position may be eligible for bonus and equity.
