We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Plumbing Piping Estimator to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates for plumbing and piping systems for commercial industrial and residential construction projects. This role requires a strong understanding of mechanical systems construction processes and materials as well as the ability to analyze project drawings specifications and scopes of work.
Key Responsibilities:
Note: The following responsibilities are representative of the role and may be subject to change. Additional duties may be assigned as necessary.
- Review project plans specifications and addenda to develop comprehensive and competitive cost estimates for plumbing and piping scopes.
- Perform accurate quantity takeoffs for piping fixtures equipment and accessories using estimating software or manual methods.
- Solicit and evaluate bids from subcontractors vendors and suppliers.
- Prepare detailed bid proposals and cost breakdowns for submission to GCs or clients.
- Coordinate with project managers engineers & designers to clarify scope and resolve discrepancies.
- Monitor current market conditions material costs and labor rates to ensure up-to-date and competitive pricing.
- Participate in pre-bid meetings site visits and job walks as needed.
- Assist with value engineering & cost-saving recommendations during the pre-construction phase.
- Maintain historical cost data and update the estimating database
Qualifications :
- Education: High school diploma or GED required; degree in Construction Management Mechanical Engineering or a related field preferred
- Experience: 3 years of estimating experience in plumbing and piping systems preferably in commercial or industrial construction.
- Journeyman or Master Plumber license is a plus
Preferred Skills & Attributes:
- Experience with BIM coordination or 3D modeling is advantageous.
- Familiarity with LEED or sustainable plumbing practices.
- Strong knowledge of plumbing codes standards materials and installation practices.
- Knowledge of estimating software (e.g. Trimble Bluebeam FastPIPE or equivalent) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent math analytical and organizational skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical and plumbing drawings schematics and specifications.
