Biostatistician

To support studies related to meta-analysis network meta-analysis indirect treatment comparisons health economic models trial simulation and exploratory analysis of clinical and real-world data.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Working independently to lead statistical aspects of projects.
• Development of statistical analysis plans
• Conduct of statistical analyses
• Report development
• Interpretation and dissemination of findings.
• Participating in meetings with clients to lead discussions around statistical methods and to present results from analyses.
• All other duties as assigned

EXPECTATIONS OF THE JOB:

• Travel: Some travel may be required for meeting with clients stakeholders or off-site personnel/management
• Hours: Monday to Friday 37.5 hours per week
  • Overtime and/or weekend/evening hours may be required to meet project deadlines

PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

The physical and mental requirements along with the work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an individual encounters while performing the essential functions of this position.

Office: While performing the essential functions of this job the employee is frequently required to sit for longer periods grasp stand and/or sit for long periods of time (up to 90% of the shift) walk talk and hear; occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderately quiet with frequent interruptions and multiple demands.

Qualifications :

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

The requirements listed below are representative of the experience education knowledge skill and/or abilities required.

• Minimum of an undergraduate degree preferably in Biostatistics Statistics Epidemiology or related field
• Strong basis in fundamental statistical concepts and methods
• Strong statistical programming skills with standard software including R WinBUGS/OpenBUGS SAS and/or STATA.
• Deep understanding of Microsoft Word Excel and PowerPoint.
• Strong problem-solving skills and an ability to learn quickly.
• Ability to communicate effectively (spoken and written) in non-technical terms with project team members and clients.
• Work well in a team as well as independently and be able to take leadership role with regard to methodological elements in projects.
• Strong attention to detail
• Strong critical thinking analytical problem-solving and multitasking capabilities

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• MSc or PhD preferred
• Familiarity with techniques such as development of meta-analysis indirect comparisons network meta-analysis predictive equations survival analysis (including parametric methods) longitudinal data analysis and other hierarchical analysis techniques etc.
• Practical experience in the application of statistics in health technology appraisal health economics outcomes research or clinical data analysis is preferred but can be learned on the job.
• Proficiency in JavaScript would be a great asset.
• Proficiency with computer programming software (eg VBA) or other role-related software (eg EndNote) is an asset

The anticipated target salary for this position is  $75000 and is not applicable to locations outside of the Canada. The base salary range represents the low and high end of the salary range for this position. Compensation will be determined based on relevant experience other job-related qualifications/skills and geographic location (to account for comparative cost of living).
