The district currently has funding for four years for a District Secondary Level Literacy Coordinator. Must be knowledgeable of the MTSS 3 Tier Response to Instruction (RTI) process possess the ability to work collaboratively with administrators teacher leaders school psychologists director of curriculum special education teachers classroom teachers paraprofessionals and parents. Must be able to design implement and monitor for consistent and effective implementation of literacy strategies and interventions designed to help students achieve academic success. Must be able to evaluate universal screening progress monitoring and assessment data direct the implementation of data-based problem solving and decision making promote a layered continuum of support and support school-level team-driven leadership in all schools related to MTSS literacy interventions Multilingual Education interventions and READ plans.
SUPERVISED BY: Assistant Superintendent / READ Coordinator
ESSENTIAL JOB ELEMENTS:
- Work with the MTSS/READ plan coordinator and Literacy Plan Development Team to develop the district comprehensive birth to graduation literacy plan.
- Help to organize and facilitate the district level Literacy Team.
- Organize and align interventions for middle school and high school for reading achievement growth.
- Assist in developing and implementing a 3-Tiered RtI system at grades 6-12 to address student needs and increase student literacy achievement.
- Coordinate Implementation of the District Comprehensive Literacy Plan
- Perform other duties as assigned.
At the District level
- Work with the District Literacy Consultants.
- Coordinate with other departments for the procurement of secondary literacy intervention resources (Curriculum Director Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum Instruction and Assessment and the Business Department).
- Coordinate literacy staff development activities.
- Create an atmosphere of sharing and cooperation at meetings with teachers and parents.
- Schedule train and/or facilitate training for all district approved interventions.
School level teams
- Collaboration and coordination with school administration and instructional leadership team
- Provide observation coaching feedback co-teaching and other supportive assistance necessary to effectively implement reading interventions and differentiation.
- Encourage and model skillful use of data to inform decision making and problem solving.
Facilitate Data Driven Problem Solving
- Provide literacy documentation and progress monitoring data to stakeholders as needed.
- Assist in managing literacy data on all secondary students that includes data from classroom observations teachers interviews parent interviews universal screeners Read 180 Istation STAR Renaissance DIBELS PBIS and Interim Benchmarks and Curriculum-Based Assessments.
Quality Control
- Monitor for consistent and effective goals and interventions within student plans for MTSS in literacy and READ using the Frontline and Educlimber platforms.
- Stay current with MTSS/ READ requirements and trends and research-based interventions so students have access to the best interventions available.
- Monitor processes to ensure adherence to district procedures and state guidelines and compliance with federal regulations including the READ Act Individuals with Disabilities Education Act and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum of 5 years experience in education.
- Possess a minimum of a Masters degree in education.
- Hold a valid Colorado Department of Education teaching license.
- Ability to develop coordinate and conduct program evaluations.
- Possess strong collaboration and coaching skills.
- Advanced training in the science of reading equivalent experience.
- Knowledge of special education laws and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act.
- Strong data-base problem solving and decision making skills.
- Strong knowledge of and experience with literacy interventionprograms and resources.
- Ability to provide effective feedback and model lessons
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
