Job Title: Sr Specialist Systems Engineer /Supply Chain Engineer

Job Schedule: 9/80: Employees work 9 out of every 14 days totaling 80 hours worked and have every other Friday off

Job Description:

Our Supply Chain Engineering group is a high-visibility team at L3Harris Technologies with the purpose of enabling strategic tools and delivering results through its partnerships with the L3Harris business segments. Within the Supply Chain Engineering group the Engineering team applies the methodology framework tools and training that enable best practice application of should cost models and product teardowns. As a member of this center-led team you will have the opportunity to be trained in the leading A&D should cost modelling software tools and gain experience with the broader L3Harris products systems and processes.

Essential Functions:

  • Work with category managers and other stakeholders to identify should cost opportunities on programs products and proposal activities
  • Utilize software and experience to analyze current cost and determine Should Cost at the component and subassembly level
  • Power user of Galorath SEER modeling software and go-to resource for other users
  • Knowledge of metal composite plastic fabrication process hardware assembly processes printed wiring boards and electrical components
  • Experience reading and interpreting testing and inspection specifications
  • Proposal estimating experience general understanding of hardware costs as a data sanity check
  • Support Should Cost inclusion process to adopt design and pricing evaluation prior to final design release
  • Work with stakeholders to utilize Aligned RFP (Request for Proposal) templates to gather critical costs such as material process labor tooling machine data overheads profit etc.
  • Support the team with in-depth gap analysis for sourced products / components costing and co-develop supplier negotiation approaches utilizing knowledge from the should cost model
  • Establish a strong network and foster collaboration with internal customers and key stakeholders. Develop partnerships with Supply Chain Program Management and Engineering teams to achieve cost alignment and meet financial objectives
  • Secondary responsibility will be evaluation of design for manufacturability
  • Follow through with program implementation support cost savings tracking program follow up and develop and present savings scorecard monthly
  • Support Value Engineering Frontloading and other early project engagement events
  • Support additional lean/process improvement initiatives of technical and operational nature
  • This position can be in Melbourne Florida or Remote
  • Occasional travel required
  • Delivering should-cost training and presenting performance report-out to leadership

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree and minimum 6 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree minimum of 10 years of prior related experience.

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Bachelors degree in Engineering or another related technical field (Mechanical Electrical Manufacturing)
  • 4 years engineering experience preferably focusing on the design and/or manufacturing of electrical and/or electro-mechanical products.
  • 2 years supply chain experience
  • Self-starter who can initiate engagement with people/programs to identify candidates and initiate should-costs
  • Technical aptitude and ability to drive knowledge transfer in area of expertise.
  • Strong analytical skills with ability to interpret and synthesize complex data sets.
  • Ability to work with multiple sources of data and assumptions generate effective scenario and sensitivity analysis to test and refine estimates.
  • Ability to challenge the status quo costing and work with category managers to bridge gaps and search for new opportunities.
  • Cost estimating experience and financial acumen.
  • Graduate degree in Engineering and/or MBA.
  • Subject matter expert with comprehensive knowledge of job area and in-depth knowledge of project management.
  • Experience working with supply chain and/or suppliers.
  • Design for Manufacturability experience including the effects of manufacturing costs that are driven by product design.
  • Experience in CAD and PLM (Product Lifecycle Management) software.
  • Lean manufacturing and/or six sigma experience.

In compliance with pay transparency requirements the salary range for this role in Colorado State Hawaii Illinois Maryland Minnesota Vermont and New York State is $90500- $168500. For California Seattle Washington D.C. Maryland Greater Washington D.C. area the city of Denver Washington State and New York City the salary range for this role is $104500- $193500. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location. The specific programs and options available to an employee may vary depending on date of hire schedule type and the applicability of collective bargaining agreements.
