Normal Work Schedule:Monday - Friday 8:00am to 5:00pm; occasional evenings and weekends.
Job Summary:The Accounting Assistant III maintains accurate financial records. Provides accounting and bookkeeping support. Assists University staff in understanding industry standards current laws and university policy as it relates to the financial affairs of the University. Provides guidance trains and/or may supervise entry-level Accounting Assistants.
Additional Department Summary:Assists with electronic invoicing in the computerized accounting system and the payment of Supply Store invoices and credits that are sent to Accounts Payable. Maintains Received Not Invoiced and outstanding invoices in the computerized accounting system. This position is also a p-card holder for the Supply Stores. Reconciles accounts in the computerized accounting system. Prepares Banner generated purchase orders miscellaneous disbursement vouchers and requisitions. Serves as back-up to the Assistant Director of Accounts Payable in their daily duties and their month-end closing accounting duties. Assists the Assistant Director of Accounts Payable with complex reconciliations that are a part of reconciling general ledger accounts between our Stores accounting platform to UAs accounting software.
Required Minimum Qualifications:High school diploma or GED and four (4) years of accounting or bookkeeping experience; OR associates degree and two (2) years of accounting or bookkeeping experience; OR bachelors degree.
Skills and Knowledge:Basic computer skills. Ability to use a 10-key calculator. Good communications skills both written and verbal. Familiarity with Windows Excel and Word. Must be able to multi-task.
Preferred Qualifications:Bachelors degree in Accounting with some experience.
