Seattle Public Utilities (SPU) is hiring an Urban Tree Health and Supply Advisor (SA1) to strengthen and secure the future of our citys tree canopy. This role supports the Trees for Neighborhoods program which helps residents plant and care for 1000 new trees every year. Youll also lead efforts to prepare for and respond to threats like the emerald ash borer protecting the trees we all depend on for cleaner air cooler streets and better neighborhoods.
This is more than just a jobits a chance to shape how Seattle grows. Youll help open and manage a brand-new tree holding facility coordinate with other City departments and work closely with community groups to ensure our urban forest is strong diverse and ready for the future.

In this role you can expect to:
Secure care for and manage trees to support the Trees for Neighborhoods program and annual residential planting goals
Develop and operate a new tree holding facility launching fall 2025overseeing planning logistics and long-term performance
Build partnerships with community groups and workforce development organizations to support the facilitys mission and grow community involvement
Lead cross-departmental coordination to prepare for and respond to tree pests starting with emerald ash borer readiness
Communicate clearly and effectively with the public City leadership and agency partners on tree health and pest response strategies
Oversee all budgeting and contracting activities related to the tree holding facilitys construction and operations

Education:Equivalent to a bachelors degree from an accredited four-year college or university
This position allows for the flexibility of a hybrid work schedule. Effective January 2025 City employees will have the option to work remotely two days per week. Individual schedules will be agreed upon by the employee and their supervisor.

The full salary range for this position is:$50.08 - $75.12 Hourly ($104567.04 - $156850.56 Annually)
