What you get to do:
The Senior Technical Accountant will participate in the day-to-day accounting functions in Corporate Finance. In this position the individual will routinely work with varying levels of management at both the corporate office and the Companys parks. This position will work with the Accounting Manager to help take a leadership role in the development and execution of new accounting procedures and analyses. This position will perform multiple accounting functions to include but not limited to:
- G/L entries
- G/L account reconciliations
- Accounting for company expense accruals miscellaneous expenses etc.
- Assist with Quarterly SOX controls including contact review related parties etc.
- Assist in the facilitation of audit processes
- Work on financial reporting/analyses for projects and/or audits such as the SeaWorld & Busch Gardens Conservation Fund 401k plan etc.
- Generate financial reporting documents and develop ad hoc analyses for both internal and external customers
- Provide technical accounting responses and solutions to management and auditors based on analytical reviews in the areas of accounting/audit/sales tax/property tax
- Perform detailed reviews for work performed by Accountant I and Accountant II and discuss review activity with auditors
- Provide assistance to other corporate finance / accounting functions such as financial reporting budgeting etc.
- Special projects and other duties as assigned
What it takes to succeed:
- Must have a Bachelors Degree in Accounting. Masters preferred.
- CPA or CPA Candidate preferred
- Must have at least 4 years of corporate accounting experience or at least 3 years of public accounting experience
- Must be proficient in Microsoft office (e.g. Excel Word PowerPoint)
- Accounting experience in a theme park environment preferred
- Experience with SAP preferred
- Ability to build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders throughout the organization
- Ability to apply technical accounting concepts into requested accounting and audit projects
- Ability to independently complete work in a timely manner
- Ability to complete ad hoc projects at the request of management or auditors
- Strong communication skills
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects with competing deadlines in a team environment
- Solid understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
