Location: Volkswagen - 6000 S Broadway Littleton CO 80121
Reports To: Corporate Controller
Salary Range:$100000-$150000 (based on experience and qualifications) Opportunities for incentives.

Position Overview:
McDonald Automotive is seeking an exceptional leader to serve as our Director of Automotive Accounting a key leadership position responsible for leading the financial operations of our dealership group. While automotive accounting experience is a strong plus our top priority is finding a visionary hands-on leader who excels at building strong teams driving performance and being a change agent.
The ideal candidate will bring a proven track record of leadership at the department or enterprise level with the ability to inspire align and elevate teams. This role will own the structure growth and culture of the automotive accounting function ensuring not just financial integrity but organizational excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and develop a high-performing automotive accounting team setting clear expectations building accountability and fostering a collaborative results-driven environment.
- Provide strategic direction and executive-level oversight across all automotive accounting operations includingbilling inventory compliance funding and titles.
- Establish and drive performance metrics that align the accounting function with overall business goals.
- Partner closely with executive leadership to support data-driven decision-making and financial planning.
- Champion process improvement and operational excellence within the department.
- Serve as a mentor coach and culture builder across accounting teams.
- Ensure accurate and timely reporting in compliance with applicable standards and regulations.
- Assist with audits tax compliance and relationships with external financial partners.
Qualifications:
- Proven leadership experience 7 years in progressively senior management roles with direct responsibility for team development and performance.
- Strong background in accounting finance or business operations (Bachelors required).
- Automotive dealership accounting experience strongly preferred (but not required for the right leadership candidate).
- Exceptional communication change management and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated ability to lead through growth scale or transformation.
- Experience with dealership management systems (Tekion CDKetc.) is a plus.
