Description

POSITION SUMMARY

The Department of Art at North Greenville University is seeking a Professor of Art to teach courses in Photography Drawing and Engaging the Arts through Visual Art. This position is a full-time position (12 month). This position will begin August 1 2025. Rank and salary will be commensurate with qualifications.

North Greenville University is a teaching university affiliated with the South Carolina Baptist Convention. Members of the NGU faculty

  • Mentor students academically and spiritually.
  • Are Christian scholars who reflect upon their discipline from the perspective of a biblical worldview.
  • Affirm an understanding of and willingness not to teach contrary to the Baptist Faith and Message 2000
  • Affirm understanding of and willingness not to teach contrary to the Universitys Statement of Human Flourishing.
  • Abstain from illegal drugs and beverage alcohol

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Teaching classes as assigned
  • Advising students
  • Recruiting events as assigned
  • General faculty responsibilities including committee assignments

Physical Requirements

  • Visual Abilities: Read reports create presentations and use a computer system.
  • Hearing: Hear well enough to communicate with co-workers and students.
  • Dexterity Grasping Feeling Write type and use the telephone copier and computer systems.
  • Mobility: Actively teach classes; move between departments and attend meetings across campus.
  • Talking: Frequently convey detailed or important instructions and ideas accurately loudly or quickly.
  • Cognitive/Emotional: Ability to critically think and concentrate.

WORKING RELATIONSHIPS

This position is a full-time position in Art Department. The position reports to the Department Chair.

Qualifications

  • Masters degree in art
  • Preference will be given to applicants holding a terminal degree
  • Experience and a passion for teaching
  • The willingness and ability to mentor students
  • Evidence of successful recruitment and retention of students
  • Evidence of leadership excellence within the school community and the profession.
  • Evidence of scholarly potential
  • A personal commitment to Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord
