You will be updated with latest job alerts via emailA regular full-time position is available in the sequencing facility of the Network Biology Collaborative Centre () at the Lunenfeld-Tanenbaum Research Institute in Mount Sinai Hospital. The successful candidate will join a collaborative team to support facility users with their sequencing experiments. The candidate will assist with the day-to-day operations of the facility maintaining instrumentation processing samples and developing new sequencing applications. The sequencing facility specializes in functional genomics offering end-point readouts for transcriptomics CRISPR barcoding assays and single cell sequencing. The facility is equipped with a PacBio Revio and an Illumina NextSeq 2000.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Help manage the day-to-day operation of the sequencing facility.
Perform maintenance calibration and troubleshooting of facility instruments and equipment.
Process users samples including library preparation quality control operation of DNA sequencers and data analysis for both short- and long-read instruments.
Review sequencing results and if needed troubleshoot issues and/or adjust protocols as required to ensure optimal results.
Organize and track user samples and manage instrument queues.
Develop new sequencing protocols and applications as part of a team.
Procure supplies and competitive quotes organize and track supplies in the facility.
. in Molecular Biology Cellular Biology Biochemistry or related discipline.
Minimum of 2 years of laboratory experience.
Proficiency in molecular biology techniques including DNA and RNA sample preparation.
Experience in qPCR set up and analysis.
Expertise in sample preparation for sequencing and operation of Illumina and/or PacBio sequencers is preferred.
Experience in data management Linux OS sequencing bioinformatics and/or LIMS (Laboratory Information Management System)is an advantage.
Must be able to communicate (verbal and written) information within the team and to users of the facility.
Knowledge of standard software (e.g. Microsoft Office Suite).
Must demonstrate satisfactory work performance and attendance record.
