Job Description

Helper GIS Assistant

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

Under close supervision following specific instructions as to methods and working details must be willing and able to perform the more elementary drafting prepare dimension drawings keep map and operating records operate copying equipment and be qualified to do the following and related work in the department to which he/she is assigned:

1. Prepare to-scale simple drawings and tracings.

2. Make simple checks and minor alterations of drawings by comparing dimensions.

3. Make field sketches as directed.

4. Perform and assist in general and miscellaneous work in and out of office.

5. Prepare records and reports and perform necessary housekeeping.

6. Operate Companys light duty vehicles.

B. EXPERIENCE AND SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Must have one of the following:

  • One year field operations experience (Transmission Line or Substation Distribution Line or Service Field Metering or Storeroom) OR
  • Completion of Entergys Technical Personal Development Program (TPDP) OR
  • 2 Year Technical Associate Degree in a related field from an accredited school OR
  • A minimum of 60 College hours toward a 4-year degree in a related field from an accredited school AND

2. Be willing and able to furnish information secured from plats and records where a general knowledge of the records is required and have elementary knowledge of

methods of calculations as used in survey work.

3. Within six months after employment know Companys safety rules and be willing and able to administer all approved methods of resuscitation and be willing and able

to render practical first aid.

4. Must maintain a valid drivers license.

C. PHYSICAL QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Must be willing and able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation to include but not limited to:

a) Have strength andendurance adequate for arduous labor as circumstances may require.

D. PERSONAL QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Be particularly alert in observing hazards and avoiding accidents.

2. Be willing and able to work under unusual surroundings as well as the normal working conditions pertaining to this job.

3. Be willing and able to receive and execute orders and instructions in such a manner as to inspire respect and confidence of

superiors and subordinates.

GIS Assistant

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

Under direct supervision with some latitude for planning or laying out of working details must be willing and able to perform average and responsible work in connection with drafting surveying and technical work in field or office prepare dimension drawings keep map and operating records and be qualified to do the following and related work in the department to which he/she is assigned:

1. From established standards model feeder circuits rural lines transformer racks capacitor and meter installations and services as applied to areas into the AM/FM GIS system.

2. Enter completed construction jobs in AM/FM/GIS (automated mapping/facilities management geographic information systems) or Entergys current graphical software within a specified time line according to the priority of each job.

3. Assist in engineering calculations tables layouts studies reports appraisals and related work.

4. Make line extension sketches for updating AM/FM GIS system.

5. Lay out simple structures; take field notes and make field sketches as directed.

6. Make field inspections and reports on construction work.

7. Perform and assist in general and miscellaneous work in and out of office.

B. EXPERIENCE AND SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Must meet all qualifications of Helper GIS Assistant or one of the following:

  • 3 Years field operations experience (Transmission Line or Substation Distribution Line or Service Field Metering or Storeroom)OR
  • Completion of Entergys Technical Personal Development Program (TPDP) and 2 years related work experience OR
  • 2 Year Technical Associate Degree in a related field from an accredited school and 2 years related work experience OR
  • A minimum of 60 College hours toward a 4 year degree in a related field from an accredited school and 2 years related work experience OR
  • 4 Year Technical Degree in a related field from an accredited school AND

2. Be familiar with the National Electric Safety Code and any state or local regulations affecting Companys operations as

related to his work.

3. Have practical working knowledge of electrical and/or gas and/or water fundamentals.

4. Have a fair knowledge of methods of calculation used in survey work as related to GPS and/or Texas latitude and longitudesystem.

5. Demonstrate ability to read and understand wiring and field notes maps and drawings and/or piping diagrams and

blueprints.

6. Attend and take part in all safety meetings and be willing and able to administer all approved methods of resuscitation and bewilling and able to render practical

firstaid.

7. Demonstrate ability to perform equipment installation removal and relocate functions in AM/FM DFM and AM/FM GIS systems.

8. Maintain switch database for all switches as related to AM/FM GIS system.

9. Coordinate priority switch changes with DOC to accommodate priority switching.

10. Monitor the engineering merge process in AM/FM GIS.

11. Monitor line sections and trouble-shoot why some do not build in the Outage Management System.

12. Demonstrate ability to trouble-shoot bad predictions from OM because of data problems (mismatches missing equipment

wrong switching etc.).
