Job Description
The University of Iowa Campus Safety Security Engineering Services department is seeking a Locksmith. This position is responsible for security of all building doors safes vaults files and locking devices and grand master key systems through installation maintenance and repair of a wide range of locking mechanisms and related hardware.
This position is performed fully on campus.
Duties to Include:
- Installs adjusts recombinants services and repairs all types of locking mechanisms strikes doors and closers (may include electronic hardware and security systems).
- Cuts and issues keys maintains records.
- Develops and uses Master Keying systems.
- Reads and interprets floor plans as well as hardware and key schedules.

Minimum Eligibility Requirements:
- Four years of experience in the trade including apprenticeship.
Special Qualifications:
- A valid drivers license is required as well as an ability to meet University of Iowa Driving Policy.
Desirable Qualifications:
- Ability to maintain a professional and respectable demeanor with staff and customers that fosters good relations.
- Ability to adapt prioritize and organize multiple tasks.
- Intermediate to proficient computer skills including experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Prior customer service experience.
