Job Description

Arlington Public Schools seeks a 1.0 FTE teacher of Spanish. This is a permanent position that will be for grade 8 or Arlington High School. Candidates interested in only one of those positions are encouraged to apply.
Candidates should have advanced oral proficiency in Spanish and demonstrated oral and written communication skills in English. Candidates should have knowledge of research-based effective world language pedagogy including the ACTFL World-Readiness for Language Learning Standards. Candidates should be able demonstrate use of a variety of materials and modes of instruction incorporating authentic resources and be adept with technology. Effective techniques for classroom management and developing relationships with students are essential as well as the ability to work effectively with students parents colleagues and community members.
Valid Massachusetts DESE teaching licensure Foreign Language Spanish Grades 5-12 is required.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 183 Days
REPORTS TO:Director of World Languages and Building Principal
Arlington has a well established new teacher induction program with mentoring throughout the school year.
Salary and Benefits are consistent with theCollective Bargaining Agreement between the Arlington School Committee and the Arlington Education Association.
