Learning Support Services - Special Education

Applicants will be considered in the following order:
1) Qualified permanent ESS/OSSTF Bargaining Unit employees.
2) Qualified probationary temporary and Temporary Hourly Rated (THR) ESS/OSSTF employees.
3) Qualified external applicants (includes employees from other Bargaining Units)
Reporting to the System Administrator Learning Services - Special Education the successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the day-to-day activities of the Special Education Department.
The successful applicant for this Educational Support Staff position Level D will work 35 hours per week 10 months per year effective August 25 2025. **Please note interviews may take place the first week of July**
Responsibilities:
Provide general secretarial duties supporting the Special Education department including but not limited to Supporting the Special Education Leadership Team (System Administrator of Special Education Psychology/Social Work Lead Speech-Language Pathology Lead Paraprofessional Supervisor Mental Health Lead)
Maintain exemplary public relations in receptionist duties and with school and system staff
Assist in the maintenance of student records
Maintain and update special education equipment records
Support the distribution of special education equipment to schools
Support the organization of system wide professional development (e.g. prolearn)
Assist in purchase ordering as required to support Special Education needs at the system and school level
Perform other duties as required
Qualifications:
Office Administration Diploma (2 year diploma program) plus a minimum of 2 years in a public education setting or equivalent office administrative experience in the office skills required on a daily basis in a public education system
Excellent computer and word processing skills are required
Extensive experience including but not limited to knowledge and use of:
Google Workspace for Education including Google Docs Google Sheets and Google Calendar
Microsoft Windows environment including Microsoft Word Excel and PowerPoint
Aspen software
K212 software
Demonstrated proficiency in utilizing and learning aria-level1>
Excellent interpersonal skills
Excellent organizational time management and problem solving skills with attention to detail
Demonstrated ability to complete assigned duties with minimal supervision and problem solve situations as they arise
Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written forms
Excellent attendance record required
