Reporting to the Manager of Childrens Intensive Service (CIS) and under the direction of the Team Leader the Masters prepared Social Worker is a member of the interdisciplinary team and provides clinical intervention to families and their children ages 6-12 with severe disruptive behavior. The Social Worker will work with children and families from a multi-systemic framework approach based on attachment principles. This is done in accordance with the mission philosophies and vision of IWK Health. Interventions and follow-up may be provided on a direct consultative or supervisory monitoring approach. The Social Worker is involved in all aspects of the care continuum from pre-assessment through to discharge/follow up and will also provide individual and family therapy. The Social Worker provides leadership and support around the clients treatment plan participates in clinical case discussion team meetings case conferences and supports program operations. The Social Worker demonstrates professionalism adheres to standards of their professional practice and maintains the principles of client and family-centered care. Teaching and clinical supervision of students and in-home support workers is an expectation in the MSW role at CIS.
Clinical services are provided to families in their homes or other community locations whenever possible which will require travel for such visits. In necessary situations there will be an inpatient component to care.
