Job Description

Job Title:

Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA)

Location:

Pennsylvania (multiple facility sites)

Schedule:
  • Standard workweek: Monday Friday 40 hours

  • Occasional weekend coverage required on a rotating or as-needed basis (weekend differential or shift-swapping opportunities available)

Pay Rate:

Hourly wage based on COTA experience and licensure duration:

Experience Level Hourly Rate Entry ( 1 year) $27 $30/hr Mid-level (2 4 years) $30 $35/hr Senior (5 years) $35 $41/hr
Job Summary

The COTA delivers therapeutic activities and functional interventions under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist. Responsibilities include supporting patient independence in activities of daily living documenting progress ensuring safety and collaborating with interdisciplinary teams in compliance with state and facility standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Implement treatment plans (e.g. therapeutic exercises adaptive techniques self-care tasks)

  • Assist with patient assessments and modify activities per OT guidance

  • Document patient progress using electronic medical records (EMR)

  • Set up and maintain treatment environments and equipment

  • Educate patients/families on adaptive strategies and home exercise programs

  • Collaborate with OT nursing and support teams to coordinate care

  • Uphold infection control and patient rights (HIPAA compliance)

  • Participate in care team meetings and quality improvement efforts

Qualifications
  • Active COTA licensure in Pennsylvania

  • Graduation from an accredited OTA/COTA program

  • BLS certification required; advanced certifications (e.g. ACLS) a plus

  • Strong communication clinical reasoning and organizational skills

  • Preferred: experience in skilled nursing outpatient rehab school or pediatric settings

Weekend Coverage
  • Scheduled on a rotating or as-needed basis

  • Covered staff receive weekend differential pay (e.g. $2 $4/hr) or shift-swap options
