Job Summary:
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Assistant Team Manager within the Mental Health Social Care Team.
The successful applicant will support the operational delivery of statutory duties under the Care Act and the Mental Health Act contributing to a strengths-based person-centred approach that promotes recovery and independence.
Reporting to the Team Manager the Assistant Team Manager will play a pivotal role in supervising frontline staff managing caseload allocation and overseeing day-to-day team functions including safeguarding enquiries.
The post-holder will work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary setting to ensure timely high-quality interventions and outcomes for adults experiencing mental health challenges.
Key Duties/Accountabilities (Sample):
Provide professional supervision and management oversight to social care staff within the mental health team.
Support the Team Manager in the operational management of the team including acting as duty manager on a rota basis.
Act as Safeguarding Manager for statutory safeguarding adults enquiries in line with policy and procedure.
Allocate work effectively to ensure caseloads are manageable and reflect staff skill sets and development needs.
Contribute to performance monitoring quality assurance and the continuous improvement of service delivery.
Liaise with internal and external stakeholders including NHS colleagues to facilitate integrated support for service users.
Support the co-production of service improvements with individuals who use services and their carers.
Ensure that commissioned services offer best value and meet assessed needs in a cost-effective manner.
Promote a strengths-based approach to care planning and intervention focusing on achieving positive personalised outcomes.
Support professional development and promote a learning culture within the team.
Skills/Experience:
Demonstrable experience of staff supervision caseload management and acting as duty or safeguarding manager.
Sound working knowledge of the Care Act Mental Health Act and associated safeguarding legislation.
Strong interpersonal leadership and problem-solving skills with an ability to support and challenge practice effectively.
Experience of working within multi-agency teams promoting positive and integrated approaches to care.
Ability to interpret and apply legislation policies and procedures to complex cases and team operations.
Experience of contributing to service development performance monitoring and quality assurance frameworks.
Additional Information:
Qualified Social Worker with current Social Work England registration.
Substantial post-qualifying experience in adult social care including within a mental health context.
