Job Summary:
A Senior Social Worker is required to join a fast-paced Child in Need (CIN) Provider Services Team.
The postholder will be responsible for undertaking high-quality assessments holding a complex caseload of children subject to Child in Need and Child Protection plans and initiating legal proceedings where required.
This role supports vulnerable children and families ensuring effective intervention to achieve positive and sustainable outcomes.
Key Duties/Accountabilities (Sample):
Undertake Children and Families (C&F) assessments in line with statutory requirements and local procedures.
Hold and manage a caseload of CIN and CP cases developing and reviewing plans to safeguard and promote children s welfare.
Initiate and participate in court proceedings including preparing statements and giving evidence as required.
Work closely with families children and professionals from partner agencies to coordinate holistic support and safeguard children.
Use a strength-based approach to engage children and families in planning and decision-making.
Ensure timely and accurate recording of case work on relevant systems.
Participate in team meetings supervision and case audits to ensure best practice and continual learning.
Comply with statutory duties under the Children Act and other relevant legislation and guidance.
Skills/Experience:
Strong assessment and analytical skills with the ability to develop clear evidence-based plans.
Experience managing complex and high-risk cases.
Sound knowledge of legislation statutory guidance and safeguarding procedures.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills including court report writing and presenting complex information clearly.
Ability to work under pressure manage competing priorities and meet strict deadlines.
Commitment to working in a child-centred trauma-informed and culturally responsive manner.
Additional Information:
Qualified and registered Social Worker (Social Work England registration essential).
Substantial post-qualifying experience in frontline children s social work particularly within CIN CP and court proceedings.
