Job Description: Child Adolescent Consultant Psychiatrist Job Responsibilities: Conduct admission assessments and ensure effective management plans for all young people on the unit. Review referrals and determine appropriateness for admission. Conduct regular risk assessments and provide updates as necessary. Allocate specialist psychological treatments tailored to individual needs. Assess physical health of patients as part of the overall care plan. Ensure effective liaison with referring teams to facilitate smooth transitions into care. Facilitate regular Care Programme Approach (CPA) review meetings. Act as Responsible Clinician for young people detained under the Mental Health Act. Contribute to multidisciplinary team meetings providing psychiatric expertise as required. Essential Qualifications: Registered on the Specialist Register for Child and Adolescent Psychiatry with a license to practice. GMC registration with a license to practice. Recognized medical degree (e.g. MBBS MBChB) from a GMC-approved institution. Core Psychiatry Training (CT1 CT3: 3 years of full-time training. Higher Specialist Training (ST4 ST6: 3 years in a chosen psychiatry subspecialty leading to a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT). CCT confirms eligibility for consultant psychiatrist roles and placement on the GMC Specialist Register. Desired Experience: A minimum of 8 years of experience which encompasses all training and practice in the field. Experience in handling CAMHS eating disorders. Proven experience in conducting risk assessments and ensuring safety for young patients. Experience in acting as Responsible Clinician under the Mental Health Act. Strong background in multidisciplinary team leadership and psychiatric diagnosis. Effective communication skills for liaising with teams and stakeholders. The position requires a comprehensive understanding of child and adolescent mental health effectively combining clinical expertise with compassionate care delivery.
