NOTE:
This is a temporary position to be utilized while the incumbent is securing a Louisiana Engineer Intern certificate. Permanent status shall be denied to incumbents occupying this position.

Job Duties and Other Information
Job Duties:
This position serves as a specialized engineer within the State of Louisianas Safe Drinking Water Program. The position involves meeting program requirements for compliance with the requirements of the Federal Safe Drinking Water Act. Specifically the position manages the Disinfection By-products Rule.
Duties include but are not limited to the following:
- Serve as a LDH technical authority in specialized areas of the Safe Drinking Water Program and work/consult with the US Environmental Protection Agency (Audits work-plan training reports correspondence telephone calls grant requests etc.) concerning State compliance with federal promulgated regulations
- Perform determinations of public water systems statewide regarding compliance with the monitoring and maximum contaminant level requirements of the Safe Drinking Water Act and the State Sanitary Code
- Perform consultations to District and Regional offices as well as public water supplies regarding data sample collection statistical report preparation engineering data development and engineering review
- Perform/Conduct responses to public inquiries and complaints
- Performs/conducts emergency response activities for natural or manmade disasters and waterborne outbreaks or illnesses

This position participates in a Career Progression Group (CPG)and may be filled as an Engineer Intern ApplicantEngineer Intern 1 2 Engineer 3 Engineer 5level at which the vacancy is filled will be determined by the qualifications of the candidate selected. This position provides the opportunity to advance within this job series.
The actual starting salary depends on the education and experience of the selected applicant.
For the Engineer Intern 1 Engineer 5 these positions have a Special Entrance Rate (SER) starting salary of:
Engineer Intern 1 - $26.44 hourly / $2115.20 bi-weekly
Engineer Intern 2 - $28.29 hourly / $2263.20 bi-weekly
Engineer 3 $33.39 hourly / $2671.20bi-weekly
Engineer 4- $36.90 hourly /$2952.00 bi-weekly
Engineer 5 - $39.48 hourly / $3158.40 bi-weekly
