Job Description

The University of Alaska Anchorage (UAA) invites applications for a tenure-track Open-Rank School Psychologist interested in supporting the development and implementation of a new graduate Specialist-Level School Psychology training program. This is a full-time 9-month tenure track faculty position complete with both a competitive salary DOE and full employee benefits package with an expected start date in August 2025. Summer teaching in the School Psychology Training Clinic included in this position.

This program will prepare professionals in a place-based culturally-sustaining scientist-practitioner model with the goal of becoming NASP (National Association of School Psychologists) accredited and accepting the first cohort in fall 2025. This will be Alaskas first school psychology degree program. The Department of Psychology at UAA offers bachelor (BA/BS) master (MS in Clinical Psychology and Applied Behavior Analysis) and APA accredited doctorate (Ph.D. in Clinical-Community Psychology) degrees. In addition the Department offers professional certificates in Childrens Mental Health and Applied Behavior Analysis.

The Department prepares students: (1) for advanced study in the social and health sciences and (2) to become members of the behavioral health workforce. The department also maintains the Psychological Services Center a clinic that provides low-cost mental health services to campus and community members. The department strives to offer degree and certificate programs that meet the needs of the state of Alaska. Minimum Qualifications:

  • Doctoral degree in School Psychology from an accredited program at the time of hire. ABDs will be considered but employment is contingent on conferral of degree by time of hire in August 2025.
  • Documented experience in working with P - 12 student and family populations.
  • Documented record of research and publication or demonstrated potential for research and publication.
  • Eligible to obtain the Nationally Certified School Psychologist (NCSP) credential AND/OR obtain a Alaska Special Services - Type C Endorsement School Psychology.
