The State Operation Directorate has a broad role across the departments emergency management operations and ensures that the department maintains a state of operational readiness to fulfil its responsibilities as described in the Disaster Management Act 2003 Fire Services Act 1990 and the State Disaster Management Plan. The Rural Fire Service Queensland (RFSQ) Specialist Services is responsible for statewide monitoring and reporting on all disaster and emergency related issues impacting or potentially impacting Queensland.
Incident Management (IM) Capability will predominantly focus on developing the future IM capability needs for the organisation and delivers on the departments emergency management strategies through effective command and control of tactical operational and strategic IM functions. The team contributes to reviewing the IM Training Framework to deliver a defined understood consistent framework based on Australasian Inter-Service Incident Management System (AIIMS) principles that is flexible and scalable to manage all hazards. This work will be required to meet the needs of the organisation in conjunction with the departmental incident management reviews and other external assurance body recommendations.
Reporting to the Executive Manager you will be part of a small multi disciplined team with RFSQ operational experience and a high-level understanding of AIIMS doctrine and IM functional roles/responsibilities. You will contribute to the review development and implementation of policies procedures systems and communications to meet business objectives along with supporting the administrative functions of the unit. You will also work with internal and external stakeholders to review design and develop a range of flexible learning material and resources for IM training delivery and development and ensure learner and instructor qualifications meet compliance and legislative standards for Registered Training Organisation compliance.
