Job Description

Agreement Classification: School Operational Services Level 1

The Canteen Assistant supports the efficient daily operations of the school canteen by working collaboratively with the canteen team to provide a high-quality food service. This role involves assisting with food preparation maintaining a clean and hygienic environment and supporting the service of meals during break times. This position plays an important part in delivering nutritious and enjoyable food options to students and staff while upholding standards of safety cleanliness and customer service.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with daily food preparation and service during break times
  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene in the canteen
  • Support stock replenishment equipment cleaning and general kitchen duties
  • Assist with catering for school events as directed

About You:

  • Experience in food services (essential)
  • Food Safety Certificate or willingness to obtain
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
  • Friendly organised and adaptable with strong attention to hygiene

Additional Requirements:

  • Current Working with Children Check (or able to obtain)
  • Current First Aid Certificate (or willingness to obtain)

Mandatory Criteria

The applicant must have or be able to obtain prior to commencing work a current Working with Children Check. The applicant will need to have a current First Aid Certificate or the school can arrange for one to be completed.
