Job Purpose
We are seeking an experienced and results-driven Trading Manager to oversee and manage trading activities related to the procurement sales and distribution of coffee products. This role plays a key part in ensuring the company achieves its trading objectives while maintaining profitability and minimizing risks.
Key Responsibilities
1. Market Analysis
- Monitor and analyze global coffee market trends price fluctuations and supply/demand dynamics.
- Conduct competitive analysis to generate strategic insights.
2. Trading Strategy
- Develop and implement effective trading strategies to optimize procurement and sales processes.
- Set pricing strategies in line with market conditions and business objectives.
3. Supplier and Buyer Relations
- Establish and manage strong relationships with suppliers producers and buyers.
- Negotiate favorable contracts terms and conditions to ensure value for the company.
4. Risk Management
- Identify and mitigate trading risks such as price volatility and supply chain disruptions.
- Implement risk strategies including hedging insurance and forward contracts.
5. Contract Management
- Oversee the drafting and execution of trading contracts.
- Ensure full compliance and resolve any contract-related issues or disputes.
6. Performance Monitoring
- Track and report key trading metrics including profitability volume and market share.
- Use data analytics to inform decision-making and recommend improvements.
7. Cross-functional Collaboration
- Coordinate closely with departments including marketing quality control and logistics.
- Contribute insights to product development and marketing strategies.
8. Regulatory Compliance
- Ensure full adherence to international and local coffee trading regulations.
- Stay updated on industry and policy changes and adjust practices accordingly.
Additional Duties
- Perform any other duties reasonably assigned by supervisors in line with the role.
Requirements
Bachelor s degree in Business Economics Finance Agriculture or related field.
- MBA or advanced degree is an added advantage.
- Minimum 4 years experience in trading procurement or a related role (preferably in the coffee industry).
- Deep knowledge of coffee markets and trading best practices.
- Proven analytical negotiation and decision-making skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and data analysis tools.
- Strong teamwork and collaboration abilities.
Work Environment & Travel
The role is primarily office-based with occasional travel to production sites and industry events both locally and internationally.
