We are seeking a Business Development Manager to lead the launch and market expansion of a new digital voucher (merchant rewards) platform in Malaysia. This is a strategic high-ownership role where you will be responsible for defining and executing the go-to-market strategy driving merchant acquisition and forming strategic partnerships to establish the platform as a leading digital rewards solution in the market.
You will work closely with cross-functional teams including marketing product and data and report directly to the CEO. This is a high-impact position ideal for a proactive leader excited about building and scaling a new digital venture.
Design and implement the go-to-market strategy for a new digital voucher platform in Malaysia including market research segmentation pricing strategy and phased rollout planning.
Identify high-potential market segments and refine value propositions to drive adoption among SMEs and enterprise-level businesses.
Proactively source engage and onboard merchants of various sizes from small local businesses to large corporations.
Manage the full sales cycle: from lead generation and client outreach to pitching negotiation deal closure and onboarding ensuring a strong pipeline and consistent conversion.
Build strategic partnerships with relevant stakeholders such as business associations payment providers and marketing agencies to boost platform adoption and reach.
Act as a brand ambassador at industry events meetings and presentations to promote the platform and enhance visibility in the Malaysian market.
Partner with the Marketing team to develop targeted campaigns outreach efforts and promotional initiatives that drive merchant interest and platform usage.
Collaborate with Data and Analytics teams to track key performance indicators such as merchant engagement user behavior and voucher redemption rates using insights to optimize strategy.
Liaise with Product and Engineering teams to communicate market feedback and ensure the platform aligns with local user needs and expectations.
Report directly to the CEO with updates on business development metrics market insights and strategic adjustments.
Own and drive commercial targets including merchant acquisition transaction volume and revenue growth to meet milestones within the first year and beyond.
Develop a roadmap for scaling operations including team expansion sales processes and long-term growth strategies. This role may evolve into a leadership position managing a broader business development or sales team as the venture grows.
5 to 8 years of experience in business development sales or strategic partnerships with a solid track record of generating growth and closing high-value deals preferably within technology fintech SaaS or digital platform sectors.
Hands-on experience in product launches or new market entry is highly valued. Background in digital payments e-commerce or loyalty/rewards programs is a strong advantage.
Proven ability to manage both SMEs and large enterprises including building long-term relationships with senior decision-makers and successfully handling extended sales cycles.
Strong commercial insight with the ability to develop go-to-market strategies assess market trends and make informed data-backed decisions to drive business performance.
Exceptional skills in sales negotiation and persuasive communication with a consultative approach that tailors solutions to varied client needs.
Comfortable delivering pitches handling objections and closing complex deals with professionalism and confidence.
A natural relationship builder skilled at establishing trust and rapport with a broad range of clients and partners.
Highly attuned to client needs with a merchant-centric mindset focused on delivering value and ensuring long-term satisfaction.
Resourceful self-starting and highly adaptable with the drive to succeed in a fast-moving startup-like environment.
Able to operate independently prioritise effectively and stay agile amid shifting business conditions.
Team-oriented with the ability to collaborate across departments (e.g. product marketing analytics) to align business development efforts with broader company goals.
Comfortable influencing and coordinating with stakeholders across different functions.
Fluent in English (both written and spoken) additional language fluency is considered an asset.
