Job Purpose
To develop prepare execute and analyse research elements (e.g. problems questions
ideas) in paints and coatings and to develop new and improve existing research coatings methodology in line with the R&D strategy project and R&D functional standards in order to gain insight into new developments and contribute to the realization of strategic objectives of AkzoNobel.
Key Responsibilities
Delivering results on time for longer term projects ensuring quality and feasibility according to business needs
Correct use of methodologies tools and systems
Protection of AkzoNobel technologies
Functional guidance of junior chemists/technicians
Identifies new technologies/process optimization and technical solutions and new application opportunities for coatings and paints and shares these with other professionals
Maintains and promotes a safe work environment complies with safety policies and procedures. Follows safe work practices for personal and equipment safety in both the laboratory and in the field. End results are zero or minimum safety incidents and a clean orderly working environment
Sets-up plans executes analyses interprets and reports experiments within own unit
Keeps current on uses and improves relevant research methods in the field ensures retention of knowledge through research reports
Participates in projects and ensures execution and delivery of technical results
Independent decisionmaking:
- Strategic Project Initiatives: Propose and initiate new projects demonstrating foresight and strategic planning to align with the companys long-term innovation goals.
- Research Design and Planning: Execute comprehensive research plans outlining objectives methodologies and timelines to effectively address project goals.
- Project Leadership: Design and lead the execution of projects ensuring that each phase is completed to the highest standard of excellence and innovation.
- Review and Milestone Assessments: Prepare and conduct stage gate reviews independently evaluating project progress against benchmarks and making informed decisions to steer project direction.
- Analytical Oversight: Conduct tests and analyze results applying critical thinking and expert analysis to derive actionable insights from complex data sets.
- Advanced Analytical Proficiencies: Perform structure/property analysis utilizing deep knowledge in the field to explore and establish relationships between material properties and performance guiding the future direction of research and development.
- Formulates and presents solution directions and issues advice at request or at own initiative
Job Requirements
PhD in chemistry / chemical technology with 3 years of experience -
Masters Degree in chemistry / chemical technology and 5 years of experiences or
Bachelors Degree in chemistry / chemical technology and 10 years of experience
Rewards & Benefits
Base salary range for this role is: $ 100000 to $110000. This is the range that we in good faith anticipate relying on when setting wages for this position. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This salary range may also be modified in the future.
