Job Description
Research 40% - Development and maintenance of an active externally funded research program in pharmacology as described below.

Teaching 40% - Preparation and presentation of lectures and other teaching approaches in graduate and undergraduate courses in the Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology.

Service 20% - Participate in service activities at the level of the Department School University and profession.

  1. Ph.D. M.D. or equivalent degree in an appropriate discipline such as PharmacologyToxicology Neuroscience Immunology Physiology Biochemistry or Cell and/or Molecular Biology.
  2. A minimum of 3years post-doctoral research experience in one of the following areas: pharmacology toxicology neuroscience cell and molecular biology or a closely related field.
  3. Demonstrated research expertise in studies of the mechanisms of disease and drug action with the goal to advancedisease prevention diagnosis and treatment for drug abuse disorders Alzheimers disease or other neurological or neuropsychiatric disorder.
  4. Demonstrated potential for obtaining external funding for their research proposals with translational impact.
  5. Demonstrated success inpublishing high-impact research in nationally and internationally recognized journals.
  6. Demonstrated interest and abilityto teach broad aspects of pharmacology and toxicology in the context of a professional Pharm. D. program.
  7. Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.


Position Overview
The University of Kansas School of Pharmacy invites applications for a faculty position at the assistant professor level in Pharmacology and Toxicology. The successful candidate must hold a PhD MD or equivalent degree with research expertise in studies of the mechanisms of disease and drug action with the goal to advance disease prevention diagnosis and treatment for drug abuse disorders Alzheimers disease or other neurological or neuropsychiatric disorders. The position will require teaching graduate and pharmacy students establishing an active externally funded research program and providing services at the department school and university levels.
