NewsNation is looking for a Segment Producer to work on the networks flagship weekend primetime newscast.
The Segment Producer role works with show producers to write guest segments including script writing visual element gathering and graphics requests. The Segment Producer also pitches story and guest ideas as a key part of their role.
NewsNationPrime focuses on news of the day breaking news and long-form investigations deep dives and in-depth conversations with leaders and lawmakers. NewsNation Primealso focuses on Pulse of America bookings speaking with real Americans from across the country about what they are seeing and facing shining a spotlight on the under-told stories across the country. Candidates must have excellent organizational skills be effective communicators be detail-oriented be solid broadcast writers and work well under deadline pressure.

The position is based in our Chicago office.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Pitch stories daily.
Identify top-tier guests and segments that help NewsNation stand out.
Write organize and produce scripts and elements for show and interview segments.
Monitor the latest news and locate people images and sound editorial information via Twitter Facebook Instagram YouTube and other platforms.
Find reliable guests/witnesses quickly during breaking news situations.
Perform other duties as assigned the by Executive Producer and Senior Producer or network leadership.
Requirements & Skills:
Five or more years experience in national or major-market news
Bachelors degree or equivalent degree in journalism or related field.
Must exhibit strong news judgment and editorial sensibilities
Strong broadcast newswriting skills are required
Must be able to create dynamic graphic and video elements
Must be self-directing self-motivating and able to work will with a diverse group of people
Must interact well with on-air talent news managers videographers production digital and engineering staff
Should be able to handle stress including short deadlines
Should be able to work at a computer for extended periods of time
Must be able to work assigned shifts and be on call during overnights mornings and weekends/holidays
Salary $60000 - $75000
