CONTRACT TYPE: Permanent
LOCATION: Tunbridge Wells Brighton and Guildford. Depending on skills preference and experience base could be any of these but you would work across all sites.
PROPOSED SALARY RANGE: 50500 - 60500 depending on relevant skills knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.

You will be joining a small team of multi-skilled broadcast engineers largely based in Tunbridge Wells. We provide engineering support for the newly refurbished South East TV news studio and associated playout infrastructure in Tunbridge Wells as well as support for the BBC Radio stations for Kent Sussex and Surrey based in Tunbridge Wells Brighton and Guildford.
Although we are a small team the systems we cover are many and varied so although there are routine tasks to be carried out there are also the unpredictable challenges that crop up on the day; each one of us has our skills and preferences we are interested to know what you can offer. We also work closely with local staff of many disciplines including journalist operators editors and producers who you will get to know you wont be a faceless engineer behind a helpdesk phone. The team normally cover weekdays 09.00 19.00 shifts are generally 8 or 9 hours with a 40h working week averaged over a 4 week accounting period (all including meal breaks 35h week excluding meal breaks). There will be planned shifts out of these hours occasionally overnight to cover specific requirements.
Support Diverse Broadcast Systems: Maintain and support technologies across TV radio and digital content including Ross TV automation studio cameras and video walls.
Technical Operations & IT Support: Provide engineering advice manage system updates (physical and virtual) and assist with local IT issues and field equipment.
Radio & Editing Systems: Work with BBCs Vilor-based radio studios and support video ingest editing and playout systems.
Event & Fault Response: Respond to system failures based on criticality assist with outside broadcasts and perform maintenance from system to component level.
Flexible Shift Patterns: Standard weekday shifts (09:0019:00) with occasional overnight or out-of-hours work; 40-hour week averaged over 4 weeks.
Experience of supporting complex Broadcast and Production systems in a multi-platform environment.
Experience of using a range of diagnostic and monitoring tools
Experience of troubleshooting and diagnosing faults in complex systems.
Familiarity with Windows Mac and/or Linux based systems good general understanding of IT systems
Planning rigging and operating outside events such as audio recordings outside broadcasts or public facing events
DESIRED BUT NOT REQUIRED:
A UK driving licence would be desirable
