AAM is searching for a Senior Instrument Engineer to join our team. This position will be based out of our Rochester Hills Technical Center location in Rochester Hills MI.As a Senior Instrument Engineer you will perform the calibration troubleshooting and repair of complex instrumentation and control systems. This role requires hands-on experience with electronic test equipment servo-hydraulic systems and instrumentation software platforms. A strong foundation in electrical/electronic systems and a disciplined approach to precision work are essential.
Job Description
Maintain and repair AC/DC drives and servo-hydraulic controllers.
Calibrate analog and digital controllers and instruments.
Tune electrical and hydraulic control loops to meet system performance standards.
Record and verify test equipment calibration data to ensure compliance with specifications.
Coordinate and manage external calibration services as required.
Create and maintain instrumentation records in PLM (Product Lifecycle Management) and APEX Gage Calibration systems.
Build and repair wiring harnesses and test cables.
Set up and dismantle mechanical fixturing for force calibrations.
Read electrical schematics and troubleshoot systems down to the board level.
Maintain communication across teams by documenting actions irregularities and ongoing needs.
Contribute to continuous improvement by adapting to change and identifying opportunities to enhance processes.
All other duties as assigned.
Required Skills and Education
High School Diploma or equivalent.
2 years experience in the mechanical electrical or automotive testing field.
